“The problem isn’t you. The problem is the power you unknowingly give to other people.”
In contrast to my last book reaction on Ego is the Enemy, I was eagerly waiting for this book and snapped it up as soon as the e-book was available.
There’s something very raw about how Mel Robbins writes her books. You may think the title says it all and that the lesson is obvious but reading through the book unpacks so much and makes you realize there’s a lot more stuff here to learn.
The lesson is an important one - the book talks, in part, about letting go but also teaches you how to more productively use your energies towards things that you do control. It’s a modern take on stoicism - it’s not just about Let Them but also Let Me.
I liked Mel’s hilarious stories about how the Let Them Theory evolved in her life. And while the book is mainly focused on an adult context - I appreciated how the author supplemented the material with how the Let Them theory could be adjusted for children as well.
Overall a satisfying read with a great lesson and I highly recommend you insert this ahead of your book plan if you have one!
